Privacy Policy

Nexus Logic (Pty) Ltd, trading as Work Marketplace (registration number 2026/756972/07, George, South Africa) — Effective Date: 9 October 2026 (last updated 13 October 2026)

1. Introduction

Work Marketplace ("we", "us", "the Platform") operates a website connecting people looking for work with businesses looking for talent. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. Information We Collect

From job seekers:

From businesses: company details, contact information, and a description of the role or candidate being sought.

From all visitors: which partner or advertiser links are tapped, the date and time, and the type of device. For registered users this is recorded against their name and reference number.

3. How We Use Your Information

4. Sharing of Information

We share a job seeker's CV and contact details with a business only after that job seeker has given us permission for that specific introduction. We ask for this permission by email each time, without naming the business, and you may say no, or change your mind later, by writing to info@workmarketplace.co.za. From the moment a business receives your details it is responsible for them under POPIA, and we require it to use them only for recruitment, keep them secure and delete them if it does not take your application further. We may also give businesses grouped, anonymous statistics that do not identify any individual. Reference contact details are only used by Work Marketplace or, with your consent, shared with a prospective employer.

We do not sell personal information to third parties. Information may be shared with service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g. cloud storage and email providers), under contractual confidentiality obligations.

Weekly update emails

We use the email address you give us to send you your reference number and a short weekly update about vacancies and activity on Work Marketplace, including independent advertisers that may help you while you search. This is not direct marketing for our own products, and you can opt out when you register or at any time using the stop link in every email, or by emailing info@workmarketplace.co.za. After you opt out we will not send further weekly updates.

Partner and advertiser links

The Platform links to independent service providers such as CV writers, online-opportunity advertisers, agents, labour consultants and study providers. When you tap one of these links we record which link was tapped, the date and time, and whether a phone or a computer was used. If you have registered with us on that device, we also record your name and reference number against the tap, so that we can see which partners our users are interested in. If you have not registered, the tap is recorded without any name. To do this, your reference number and name are kept in your browser's storage on your device; clearing your browser data removes them.

These records are visible only to the directors of Work Marketplace, who must sign in to view them. You may object to this processing, or ask us to delete your records, at any time by emailing info@workmarketplace.co.za.

If you then contact a provider (for example on WhatsApp), you share your information directly with that provider. Work Marketplace does not receive that conversation and is not responsible for the provider's handling of your information, so please read their terms before sharing personal details.

5. Storage and Cross-Border Transfer

Information is stored using reputable cloud infrastructure providers, which may process or store data outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is subject to a level of data protection that upholds principles similar to POPIA, as required by section 72 of POPIA.

6. Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Copies held in our backups are deleted or overwritten in the normal backup cycle.

7. Your Rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and disclosure.

9. Children

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent as required by POPIA.
